We held a Map Conductor workshop at OSC2026 Hiroshima!

A report on the React × Map Conductor map app development workshop held at Open Source Conference 2026 Hiroshima. A total of 7 participants, including beginners, experienced pin display and camera controls.

On September 12, 2026, we took part in the Open Source Conference 2026 Hiroshima, held at Satellite Campus Hiroshima, and ran a Map Conductor workshop.

Open Source Conference (OSC) is a nationwide event where open source communities, companies, and organizations gather to enjoy the latest technologies and exchange through exhibits and seminars. The venue was filled with enthusiasm for "loving technology."

Map apps made even for React beginners! Hands-on with Map Conductor

We introduced the concept of declarative UI even to React beginners and had them actually experience displaying pins on a map, camera controls, click events, and more. I think participants enjoyed the development experience unique to Map Conductor, which lets you assemble map apps with a simple interface.

Shaking off first-thing-in-the-morning nerves, a total of 7 participants in 2 hours

We were a little nervous about the first session of the morning, but a total of 7 people joined over 2 hours. The renewed web demo site was also well received. We were able to connect with many people at the booths and exhibition area too, making it a day well worth the trip to Hiroshima.

At lunch, the team went to an okonomiyaki restaurant near the venue. We enjoyed a very Hiroshima taste too!

The charm of OSC is that people who love technology meet across roles and speak candidly with each other. We are sincerely grateful to the OSC executive committee and operations staff who worked to hold the event, to the exhibitors who interacted with us, and to everyone who joined the workshop.
